Founded in 2000 by Yau Chen, a long-time creator in computer animation and Hollywood film digital effects, and Serina Chen, a leading international arts curator and director. The team combines professional backgrounds in imaging technology and the performing arts, bringing together cross-disciplinary talent in dance, theater, music, 3D animation, film special effects, interactive technology and stage design, and is devoted to creating new forms of performance in which technology and art blend.

The name “Image in Motion” (影舞集) symbolizes imagery stepping onto the stage and dancing together with dance and live performance. Making full use of theater space, digital imagery and stage technology, the team creates richly layered visual scenes where the virtual and the real merge, letting animation, light and performers take part in the narrative together, breaking through the imaginative boundaries of the traditional stage and giving audiences an immersive theater experience that combines artistic beauty with emotional impact.

For more than twenty years, IMT has kept leading innovative exploration in multimedia theater. Its works include the animated dance theater pieces 《Not a Love Story》 and 《@Dream》, the interactive multimedia performances 《Imagining Kung Fu》 and 《Wind, Flower, Snow and Moon》 (《風花雪月》), and the outdoor mobile theater piece 《Wind-Catcher》 (《捕風手》). It also took part in creating the arena-scale musical 《In Love with Carmen》 and the World Expo thematic show 《Window of the City》, and produced the 3D family musical 《Voyage Undersea》 to a standard beyond the industry norm. More recently it has been actively using emerging technologies such as motion capture and AR/MR mixed reality to keep expanding the frontiers of performing-arts creation, showing the innovative energy and diverse possibilities of Taiwan's tech art.

Since its birth, IMT has gathered talents from various fields such as performing arts, animation, and special effect as well as to collaborate and discover all the possibilities of multimedia theater. IMT has created a high standard of theater production that fused multimedia with live performance. Step by step the dreams of successfully combining technology and performing arts have realized, inspiring the limitless and diverse artistic creativities.
